Police have confirmed cabin crew Sharmeen Akhter Nabila's daughter has not gone missing and will now be staying with her paternal grandmother after her mother's death in the Nepal plane crash.

They also say the girl had been staying with her maternal grandmother.

It was reported in the social media that Nabila's house help fled with the 30-month old girl after learning about her mother's passing. Her maternal grandmother also went to the police with a missing complaint.

Nabila is one of the 49 people killed in the US-Bangla Airlines plane crash in Kathmandu on Monday. Her husband is in jail for the last three months for a drug-related offence, police said.

Police confirmed that Nabila’s mother had asked a relative to take her to the Mirpur residence from Nabila's Uttara house after the news of the air crash spread in the media.

Both sides went to Uttara Police Station where it was decided that the girl would be staying with her paternal grandmother.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Shahen Shah told “it was a misunderstanding”.

“Both grandmothers came to the police station and it has been decided she will be staying with the paternal grandmother," he added.

The girl had earlier lived with her paternal grandmother in Nakhalparha.
