Three people died and at least 15 others were injured after a bus hit by another bus overturned in Rangpur.

The accident occurred on the Rangpur-Dinajpur Highway at the Char Rasta intersection near the central bus terminal around 12:30pm on Friday, said Saifur Rahman Saif, additional superintendent of Rangpur police.

Among three dead, two of them have been identified as Dulal Chandra, 45, and Hasina Begum, 55.

Ten injured have been admitted to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital while the rest of them received first aid in hospitals.

One of the buses, operated by MK Paribahan, was heading to Dinajpur’s Nawabganj from Rangpur. When it was about to take a turn into the highway past the Char Rasta intersection, another bus operated by Maaer Ashirbad rammed it from behind and the bus overturned, Saif said citing witnesses.

“A man and a woman died on the spot. A third person died in his way to hospital.”

The buses were confiscated by the local police.
