4 killed after four-wheeler crashes into workers' hut in Rangunia

Four workers have been killed after a four-wheeler, locally known as ‘Chander Gari’, veered out of control and ploughed into a hut on the side of a road Chattogram’s Rangunia.

The incident occurred in the Gabtol area under the Upazila’s Islampur Union around 4am on Thursday, said Rangunia Police OC Imtiaz Bhuiyan.

The dead are Md Zafar, 35, Mohammed Riyad, 18, Md Nazim, 22, and Mohammed Monaf, 52.

Two others were injured in the accident and have been admitted to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

OC Imtiaz told that a ‘Chander Gari’ carrying logs lost control on a road in Islampur and crashed into a roadside hut. Four workers, who were asleep inside the hut, were killed on the spot.

The workers had been living there on a temporary basis after being recruited from Noakhali’s Hatia to work on a project.

Police seized the vehicle but the driver managed to escape, said the OC.
