Prof Vincent Chang joins BRAC University as vice-chancellor

Professor Vincent Chang has joined BRAC University as vice-vhancellor.

With more than thirty years of experience in university teaching, research and administration in different capacities, he joined the private university on Monday, according to a media release.

Before BRAC University, Prof Chang was the inaugural chair for Institutional Development and a professor at the Practices of Management Economics in The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, China.

“He has recognised success in higher education, finance, economics, and engineering in diverse environments, including academia, Fortune 500’s, startups, Wall Street, and Silicon Valley, and has significant international experience in the US, Europe, the Greater China, East Asia, and the Middle East,” according to the BRAC University release.

The founding president of the University of Business Technology (by Virginia Tech), Muscat, Oman, Prof Chang had worked as the planning director there.

He had also served in different positions in Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Federal Reserve Board, Washington, DC.

He contributed at leading positions in ECapital Financial, Santa Monica, California; General Bank in LA, California; JP Morgan, New York, London and Singapore; and McKinsey & Co, Hong Kong and Greater China.

Prof Chang obtained his first PhD in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California at Berkeley and second PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

He achieved his master's degree in public administration from Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, and MBA from Yale University School of Management.

He did his master's and bachelor's in electrical engineering in National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan.
