Bangladesh Cricket Team Captain Shakib Al Hasan believes his team can beat any team in the T20 format, as it can in ODIs.

The Tigers took the T20 series against the West Indies 2-1 after winning the third by 19 runs according to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method after rain interrupted play. Shakib said he was impressed by his team’s resilience in winning the series after losing the first match.

“We have shown our determination after losing the first match. The boys tried very hard. Even those who haven’t played contributed to the match. Everyone tried to help in whatever way they could. I can ask nothing more from the team,” he said.

“We have shown our determination while playing against the world champions, and we can take confidence from it. Our record shows we haven’t performed well in T20s so far. But we can move ahead from this point.”

It was the first time Bangladesh won a T20 series after losing the first match. Shakib believes it will pave the way for a new beginning for the Tigers.

“This T20 series will increase our confidence that we can beat any strong team from now on. We know how to win. There have been a few ‘tight’ matches where we lost towards the end, but now we’ve begun to win such matches. I hope we’ll be able to maintain it.”

The captain thanked the huge crowd of Bangladesh supporters watching the match from the stands.

“We had a very big audience. Many of them extended their stay to watch this match. We never felt we were playing abroad. Such support has encouraged us at the end of a long tour; as if those supporters were our 12th man.”
