Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman has married his cousin Samia Parvin Shimu in a strictly private function attended by only their relatives in Satkhira.

The wedding was completed with Tk 500,001 'Denmohar' or dower at the bride’s home in Hadipur village in Debhata Upazila on Friday afternoon, his brother Mahfuzar Rahman Mithu told

A ceremony will be organised in Dhaka later for BCB players, officials, friends and well-wishers after the Cricket World Cup 2019 which is scheduled to start on May 30, Mustafizur’s another brother Mokhlesur Rahman Poltu had said earlier.

Shimu is daughter of Mustafizur’s maternal uncle Raonagul Islam Babu.

She is studying at Dhaka University after completing SSC from Nalta School and HSC from Sakhipur College in Satkhira, her uncle Abu Hasan told

The Tigers are apparently using the long break between the World Cup and the New Zealand tour that was called off following the mosque massacre, which the Bangladesh cricketers narrowly escaped, to start their new innings.

Mustafizur’s wedding took place a day after that of all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who sealed a five-year romance by marrying Rabeya Akter Priti from Khulna.

Batsman Mominul Haque’s wedding is lined up for Apr 19 while Sabbir Rahman tied the knot a few days ago.

Like Sabbir and Miraz, Mustafizur’s marriage ceremony is likely to be held after the World Cup.

Mominul, however, is not delaying the celebrations. The ceremony will be held on the day of his wedding.
