New book on stress management launched in Ekushey Book Fair

A new book on stress management has been launched at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair in Bangla Academy.

Md Azharul Islam, a lecturer at the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, Dhaka University, said his book ‘Monosondhi’ features “easy way of managing stress”.

He wrote the book based on relevant research findings and his own experience of counselling.

Stress management has been seen from three different angles -- physical management, psychological management and social management.

The book also discusses coping mechanisms for stress, and the issues of “self care”.

Dean of biology faculty Dr Md Imdadul Hoque while unveiling the book on Tuesday said this book was “much needed in our daily life”.

Professor Dr Shaheen Islam, former chairman of the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, praised the author for his second book on mental health launched in successive years.

“It's very much important in our country's context. Azhar presents difficult mental health issue in a very simple way that will benefit all. We give his book to those who seek psychological advice. They will be immensely benefitted,” she said.

Associate professor Mahjabeen Haque was also present, among others.

Adarsha Prokashoni published the book which can be found at stalls 496 and 497 at the fair.
