The BNP has pointed its finger at the government over the alleged 'disappearance' of MM Aminur Rahman, Secretary General of its ally Kalyan Party.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told a news conference on Wednesday that the former army officer Rahman 'went missing' while going to his home in Savar from Naya Paltan on Sunday night.

Mirza Fakhrul alleged government has a hand in the 'enforced disappearances'.

"We suspect that Aminur Rahman has faced the same fate. He is a victim of enforced disappearance," the BNP leader said.

He also alleged the media were not covering such incidents with the importance they deserve.

"If such incidents are overlooked, no one will be safe," he said.

The BNP organised the conference to mark the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances.
